This statement exists to publicly declare our ethical position and to guide our stakeholders as to the Kascade way.
Firstly, it is important to say that we consider ourselves to be experts in tech, and not ethics. We recognise that in these troubling political times the spotlight is on businesses to make sound ethical decisions, which demonstrate the core values of that business.
Our core values dictate that we believe Honesty is the best policy and this means that we always behave with integrity. We take Ownership for all decisions, and we keep promises implied or made. We also commit ourselves to Engaging Everyone and this means that we continuously learn from others, and we are always respectful of the opinions and decisions that other parties make – even if we don’t agree with them. Our value of embracing Adaptability means that we recognise and accept that industry and global positions are constantly changing, so we adapt and tackle challenges as they arise. Our value of Understanding is crucial and ensures that we listen with patience and care, to enable others to share their opinions and be receptive to ours.
We are self-aware enough to know that there is often more than one source of truth and with that comes bias. To ensure that we are understanding ethical perspectives, we lean to the UK government to guide us. Whilst we may not always agree with one position or another, as a company registered and operating within the UK jurisdiction, we are responsible for compliance with regulatory and governmental frameworks.
Therefore, any assessment of business that we do (or choose not to do) will never contravene the position of the UK government and we will be guided by their judgement, as experts.
We will always assume an unbiased ethical position throughout Kascade messaging, and we encourage our team members to do the same.
